Traditional Massage

Shirley brings to the practice her personal experience resulting from frequent, rejuvenating massages and energy-based treatments she receives. Her dedication to helping others achieve their potential is a priority in her work. She is a LaStone Therapist and Massage Technician.
Relax those face muscles!
Relax those face muscles!
Shirley has been offering massage since 1992.  Her clientele consists of people from all walks of life.
Shirley had completed the Long-Term Care Aide program just prior to opening her massage practice and is very comfortable working with the body as a complete unit.  Energy must flow through the body uninterrupted for ultimate health; therefore offering full body massage seemed like a must.  The client receives a more fluid, relaxed feeling overall.

Two areas of special interest to her in her work are the abdominal and chest areas.  These areas may be included in a massage with the clients' prior permission.  The abdomen is a vital energy centre, so when caring, gentle and relaxing strokes are applied to the abdomen, people tend to let go and breathe more freely.  Soothing, caring massage can help us integrate our feelings and therefore spread waves of relaxation throughout our entire mind and body.  People desiring to lose weight can be helped by their attention being brought to the abdominal area.  When this area is allowed to relax all the organs in the area function better.

When giving a full body massage, including the breast area allows the energy to flow undivided throughout the entire body, giving a sense of completeness.  In many cases it allows women for the first time to embrace their womanliness.  This has to be a very important exercise in addressing self-esteem issues.  The chest is an area that has long been avoided. Shirley has benefited greatly from breast massage and therefore offers such in her practice.  A full body massage/energy session can be scheduled for up to 1.5 hours in length.
Let's release the neck & shoulder area!
Let's release the neck & shoulder area!
Half of Shirley's practice consists of men from every profession who truly appreciate the opportunity to eliminate stress and tension from their mind and body. Shirley believes that the soul needs to be nurtured, and that is her ultimate goal in giving a massage.

Aromatherapy oils may be added to enhance the session for a small fee. Aromatherapy is the study and use of essential oils for spiritual, emotional and physical well-being.

LaStone Therapy

Shirley Randall, your Hostess and Massage Technician
"The Original Hot Stone Massage"
created by Mary Nelson.

Following is a few words from Mary Nelson:

LaStone Therapy came to me in the summer of 1993, while my niece Tonya Council-Bucinell and I were sitting in a sauna, staring at the hot rocks that were heating the entire room. I was struggling with a recurring shoulder injury and needed some type of extra help when working on trigger points in my clients. The first message I received from the stones was, "Use the stones." Use them for what? Was my first thought. The result of this moment is what is now called LaStone Therapy.

LaStone Therapy is one of the fastest growing techniques in today's spas throughout this country and across international waters. LaStone Therapy offers a peacful way in which to return to ones true nature.

The therapeutic potential of this treatment goes beyond measure. The physiological benefits of alternating hot and cold to the body have long been scientifically and medically proven. This unique form of massage utilizes 54 hot stones, 18 frozen stones, and one that is room temperature. Deep relaxation is only one of the benefits. Grounding, balancing and releasing of blocked memories frequently occur. Geo-Thermo-Therapy (SM), applied to the body in various ways to bring about relief to stiff and sore muscles, resulting in alleviation of chronic and acute problems that many deal with on a daily basis. This "vascular gymnastics" of the circulatory system assists the body in self-healing.

LaStone Therapy produces alternately sedative and re-energizing responses to the body. Clients love the potent recharge they receive in the treatment. As they walk forth into the sacred stream of life, clients frequently express the same words as they leave the treatment table.

"I feel blessed, balanced and cradled by Mother Earth," they smile and turn confidently toward the day ahead.

LaStone Therapy goes beyond the physical experience of typical massage, and enters deeper dimensions of relaxation, health and well being, creating a positive approach to 'Body-Mind-Spirit' philosophy.

Shirley Randall writes: I am so happy to be able to offer this exciting massage to the people of Powell River as well as to our many visiting guests to Beacon B&B and Spa.

Following is a testimonial offered by Powell River's, Joan Newsome, Certified Jin Shin Do Bodymind Acupressure Practitioner.

Exhilarating, yet grounding! The stones blended sensations of heat and coolness on my body, releasing tension and stress. I felt an energetic shift inside leaving me feel very peaceful and connected to the vibrations of Mother Earth. Nurtured by a deep comfort, created the willingness to surrender into a state of balance and oneness.
My deepest respect goes to you, Shirley, for your skilled manipulations; rubbing, placing and tending those wonderful stones.
