Powell River Land & Air AdventuresThe Upper Sunshine Coast offers an incredible array of land adventures, for all appetites and ability.HIKINGFor a scenic and comfortable walk the whole family can enjoy (including anyone travelling with a wheelchair) beautiful Inland Lake is a great half-day trip. This popular Powell River destination offers a wide and easy walking trail around its entire circumference. Recently designated a Provincial Park, Inland Lake's full trail offers 12km of crushed limestone pathways with minimal grades, and the area is excellent for swimming, boating and fishing (there are six fishing piers along the trail). The lake itself is 5.5 km in length. Open May 1 - September 30.
As well, there are many access points around Powell River to the renowned Sunshine Coast Trail. There is a choice of levels and duration as well as types of terrain, offering appeal to all ages and athletic ability. Views afforded along the 180km trail include Sliammon Lakes, Powell Lake and Inland Lake, as well as many stands of old-growth forest.
Valentine Mountain - This hike is a priority for tourists visiting the area. Hike up 90 or so railed steps (.6 km, .4 mi.) to the top of Valentine Mountain. Here you will see beautiful plant life and don't be surprised by the small wildlife seen along the way. Enjoy the stunning panoramic view of the Strait of Georgia and the Upper Sunshine Coast region. An eagle's eye view of the community. Willingdon Beach Interpretative Nature Trail - 30 minutes each way, this trail offers an accessible and easy to walk informative hike close to downtown Powell River. Crater Lakes Trail - if you have a four wheel drive, head out past Goat Lake to the Eldred River Valley and Mt. Alfred. A 25 minute hike takes you to Little Crater Lake and the trail through to Big Crater Lake. The Knuckleheads Winter Recreation Area offers excellent snowshoeing in winter along several marked trails.
